At Clarendons we’re proud to present Cosmetic Dentures to our patients. Our experienced dentists and dental technicians are skilled in constructing natural looking, stable and comfortable cosmetic dentures in Leeds. This way, you needn’t worry about missing teeth, as cosmetic dentures present an excellent solution should you lose / damage any of your teeth.

What are cosmetic dentures?

A denture is a false tooth that’s designed to replace any missing teeth you have. The two types of dentures are

  • Full dentures - where all teeth are missing

  • Partial dentures - where some teeth remain

The base of a denture is called a plate and can be made of either acrylic (plastic) or metal. The teeth are normally made of acrylic and can be made to match your natural teeth. This is especially important in the case of partial dentures. Our cosmetic dentists are skilled at constructing comfortable and stable dentures that look life-like.

Why you should choose cosmetic dentures

Natural look. Natural feel

The denture surface is textured to ensure a superior feel for the tongue and cheeks. The acrylic denture is contoured to look and feel more natural.

Emergency appointments

We are committed to providing the best care for patients experiencing any problems with treatment and will always endeavour to see you as soon as possible if you have any concerns. Here at Clarendons, it’s vital to us that you receive the dental care you deserve. We’ve based the cost of all our cosmetic dentures on the amount of clinical time needed with you, as well as the laboratory and material costs involved.

Pearl effect or porcelain teeth

These are more durable, aesthetic and lifelike, compared to your traditional ‘plastic denture teeth.’

Cosmetic ‘gums’ on the dentures

Our technicians’ artistry produces the ‘pink’ gum parts of the denture, to look like natural gums. You will also notice small veins in the dentures, just like we have in our mouths.

Immediate dentures by Clarendons: you don’t have to be without teeth!

Immediate dentures are made before any of your unsalvageable teeth are extracted. These cosmetic dentures are then inserted on the same visit your teeth have been extracted. The result is a comfortable smile, without patients having to go any period of time with missing teeth!

Dentures

Key facts to remember

Dentures can be fitted straight away!

New dentures can be fitted on the same visit as when the teeth are removed. These are known as ‘Immediate dentures’. For these new ‘Immediate dentures’, you need to visit our cosmetic dentist beforehand for them to take measurements and impressions of your mouth. With immediate dentures you don’t have to be without teeth while your gums are healing. However, bone and gums can shrink over time, especially during the first six months after your teeth have been taken out.

If your gums shrink, your immediate new dentures may need relining, adjusting or even replacing. Our cosmetic dentist will be able to discuss this with you. Sometimes our cosmetic dentist may advise you to wait until your gums are healed before having your dentures, as this can sometimes provide a better fit.

The difference between immediate & conventional dentures

Conventional new dentures are made and inserted after teeth have been removed and the tissues have healed. Healing may take several months. Immediate dentures are inserted immediately after teeth have been removed.

To do this, the dentist takes measurements and impressions of your mouth during a preliminary visit.

An advantage of Immediate dentures is that the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.

After-care is essential!

Even with full dentures, you still need to take good care of your mouth. Every morning and evening, brush your gums, tongue and the roof of your mouth with a soft-bristled brush. This removes plaque and helps the circulation in your mouth. If you wear partial dentures, it is even more important that you brush your teeth thoroughly every day. This will help stop tooth decay and gum disease, which can lead to you losing more of your teeth. Our cosmetic dentist may refer you to the dental hygienist, to have your remaining natural teeth cleaned regularly.

FAQ’s

No. the other option is dental implants. These allow the dentures to be FIXED in your mouth. Thus, no more loose and painful dentures.

No. However, replacing lost or missing teeth has substantial benefits for your health and appearance.

A complete or full denture replaces the natural teeth and provides support for cheeks and lips. Without this support, sagging facial muscles can make a person appear older and reduce their ability to eat and speak.

Eating will take a little practice with your new dentures. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces. Chew slowly using both sides of your mouth at the same time to prevent the denture from moving. As you become more used to your new denture, add other foods until you return to your normal healthy diet.

During the first few days, you may be advised to wear them for most of the time, including while you are asleep. After an initial period of adjustment our cosmetic dentist may advise you to remove them before going to bed. This allows your gums to rest and helps promote oral health.

New dentures are custom made to fit your mouth and you should not need a denture fixative.

However, over time, dentures may become loose and not fit as well. When this happens, some people prefer to use a fixative for a short time before having them replaced. A poorly fitting denture may cause irritation and sores. This can often happen if you have worn immediate dentures for some time.
