Composite Bonding

Smile with confidence.

Composite Bonding offers an excellent solution for those who want to repair a chipped, cracked, gapped or discoloured teeth. It is one of our most popular cosmetic dental treatments, as it’s considered a more straight-forward procedure than that of cosmetic dental crowns or veneers.

The benefits

  • Due to the straightforward nature of the procedure, composite bonding is cheaper than other tooth whitening/tooth repair treatments.

  • It also doesn’t require anaesthesia, which many patients appreciate. This is because it suggests the treatment is not painful in any way.

  • It’s also a viable teeth whitening method, where patients with a stained tooth can change tooth colour

  • Dental bonding is also beneficial in that, unlike crowns or porcelain veneers, it doesn’t involve removal of any tooth/teeth, so it’s well renowned for its convenience and straight-forward nature.

More about Composite Bonding

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

  • Our highly experienced cosmetic dentists will begin by matching the shade of your teeth with the composite resin.

  • This composite resin is later applied to the tooth/teeth in order to repair the damage.

  • Prior to this however, the cosmetic dentist will roughen the tooth’s surface via a liquid, and this enables the bonding material to stick to the tooth.

  • Subsequently, the composite resin will be applied and then hardened via a curing light.

  • Then finally, your cosmetic dentist will be able to shape and polish the tooth after the composite resin has hardened.

At our state-of-the-art dental practice, it’s our highest priority to make sure you receive a premium quality dental care experience.

FAQ’s

This varies depending on the patient as well as the placement of the composite bonding. Ideally it can last up to 10 years, but this can be reduced if, for example, the bonding is placed on the bottom of the tooth, where you usually bite. This is primarily because eating certain foods will directly impact the bonding – and weaken it as a result. One solution however, is to avoid biting from that side of the mouth.

The procedure is not painful at all, as there’s absolutely no drilling or injections required – this is why anaesthesia is not needed for composite bonding.

Cosmetic bonding is seen as a pain-free, simple procedure… however it doesn’t quite last as long as cosmetic dental crowns or veneers. For example, crowns can last up to 15 years, whilst veneers can last for, in some cases, up to 20 years.
