An Endodontic Repair may be required, depending on the patient as well as the procedure.
Occasionally, roots can sustain a perforation which can be due to unknown biological processes or as a complication of root canal treatment. When this happens, endodontic repairs become necessary to preserve the tooth’s integrity and prevent infections of neighbouring tissues.
Once the perforation has been identified, a skilled dentist/endodontist will perform the procedure, during which the perforation to the root will be filled. Once that has been achieved, the tooth can survive for many years.
