Root-End Closure

Let our specialists save your tooth!

Following a pulp infection, in some cases the ends of roots maybe left open and they need to be closed, in order to protect the integrity of the tooth as well as improving its prognosis. A well established method of inducing the closure of the root-end has been in place since 1966 and it’s still being used due to its high success rates.

How does the procedure work?

  • By first gaining access to the root canals.

  • Making sure the canals are thoroughly cleaned by removing any debris and infected tissues.

  • Sealing the roots and tooth temporarily to allow it to heal before the closure is induced.

  • On the revisit – which could be 1 to 3 weeks after the initial visit, calcium hydroxide, which induces root closure with other ingredients, is used to fill the canals completely in order to stimulate the closure, and thus the healing of the root-end.

  • After 6 months you will visit the dentist again to confirm the success of the root-end closure procedure.

  • Success rates are high and we at Clarendons pride ourselves for having extremely skilled dentists, who can perform root-end closure with great proficiency and reliability.

  • And of course the crown of your tooth will be restored following the procedure in a highly aesthetic manner.
