Dentistry for me has always been about more than treatment — it’s about building something meaningful, both in the smiles I create and the environment in which that care is delivered. In 2007, I founded Clarendons with a clear vision: to create a space where high-level clinical dentistry meets a refined, patient-centred experience. What began as a two-surgery practice has since grown into a thriving, multidisciplinary clinic, but the philosophy has remained the same — thoughtful, precise, and always focused on the individual.
My clinical journey began at the Leeds Dental Institute, followed by a Master’s degree in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry at the University of Manchester, where I graduated with Merit. That period deepened my focus on the balance between function and aesthetics — a principle that continues to define my work today. I now lead much of the practice’s private, general and complex cosmetic treatments, with a particular interest in minimally invasive smile enhancement.
Tooth whitening has been a longstanding focus, forming the basis of my Master’s research, alongside advanced techniques in short-term orthodontics. As an experienced Six Month Smiles™ provider, I work closely with patients to achieve natural, confident results through carefully planned, efficient treatments.
Beyond individual procedures, my role has evolved into shaping the wider clinical direction of Clarendons — mentoring the team, maintaining high standards, and ensuring every patient experience reflects the values the practice was built on. For me, dentistry is both craft and responsibility — and Clarendons is the expression of that commitment.

I was abroad and broke my front two teeth whilst on holiday in Spain in 2014. From first moment Ahmed looked at photos and explained all my options in simple language, putting me at ease about the emergency dental care I received. And since then, any other dentist might have immediately pressured me into going for the high-cost implant options, but Sumaya & Ahmed cemented the work already done to make it stronger & I continue to use the remnants of my existing teeth to this day. I am so grateful to Clarendons & cannot recommend them enough for their honesty and expertise.

Did have my appointment with Dr Ahmed Al-Ani and nurse.. He examined my jaw, gum and teeth thoroughly and took his time to explain in detail what he has seen. I have had a severe phobia of the dentist for over 15 years and the level of service at Clarendon Dental Spa is second to none. Thanks to their fantastic staff I am now attending regular check ups and having treatment, which in the past I avoided as I was so afraid. My recent treatment with Ahmed and Jenni went successfully and I managed to get a filling and clean without anaesthetic. This would not have been possible without their expertise, professionalism and fantastic supportive manner. They really took the time to keep me comfortable and calm. I can't recommend Clarendon Dental Spa enough as they have genuinely transformed my perception of going to the dentist and helped me conquer a phobia, which I never thought possible.

Went to see Ahmed Al-Ani on the Tuesday for a check-up, he was super friendly and helped me with planning my teeth whitening process, during the visit I needed a scale and polish, and he organised for me to see Miriam a few days later! I've used Miriam a few times over the last few years and she's amazing, always happy to help with questions I have, and all round just makes the visits really positive! I would recommend Clarendon because it's rare you can find a place with so many lovely dentists who are willing to go the extra mile!

Wow! I was so nervous when going for my first ever molar extraction (at 40+ yrs old)... But the daft thing was I needn't have been at all. Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, and Jeni put me at ease completely. Root canal, two words sure to strike fear into the bravest of people. I'm not brave, but not wanting to lose my tooth, and face an implant at £2500, I steadied myself and agreed to the work. Ahmed Al Ani, my dentist of many years, booked me in with the practice specialist for this work, Peter Nixon... After Peter, and his dental assistant, had fitted a temporary capping to the tooth I was referred back to Ahmed, the practice specialist in cosmetic dentistry. This is the Clarendon difference. Everyone has a specialist area and they alone do that work... I'm overjoyed with my new tooth.

I had a root canal as a child on my front tooth and ever since it's been a horrible stained colour. In some photos it was really noticeable and I was so conscious of it. I looked in to getting a veneer to cover it, however when I went to see Ahmed Al Ani he said I didn't need veneers but internal whitening. It was a really quick procedure (about 10 mins) and the bleach whitened the tooth in 2 days. I'm so happy I didn't need to pay for veneers as my tooth is now the same colour as my other teeth and looks so much better! Ahmed al ani knows so much about teeth whitening, he explained everything in a lot of detail and could answer any questions I had. He was honest about what would work for my teeth and what wouldn't, advising me on how best to save money instead of pushing lots of treatments when they weren't needed. Thanks so much I wouldn't go anywhere for dental treatment after this experience.
