Professional teeth whitening at Clarendon Dental Spa in Leeds safely lightens the shade of your teeth using dentist-supervised whitening gel, delivered in-practice or with custom home trays for brighter, natural-looking results tailored to your smile.
At Clarendon Dental Spa we offer the full range of whitening under one roof: fast in-chair laser whitening, dentist-prescribed home whitening, and a combination of both for the brightest, longest-lasting result. We also treat single dark teeth with internal bleaching and remove white spots with Icon, so whatever is dulling your smile, there is a tailored option.
Our whitening is shaped by the expertise of Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, whose Master's research focused specifically on tooth whitening, and every treatment begins with a detailed consultation to match the method, gel strength and approach to your teeth and sensitivity, for results that look natural and last. Voted Dental Practice of the Year 2026 by real patients.

Your whitening is overseen by Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, who holds an MSc in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry (University of Manchester, awarded with Merit) and whose master's dissertation focused on tooth whitening — so your treatment is guided by genuine clinical expertise, not an off-the-shelf kit.

Whitening isn't one-size-fits-all, and the right method depends on your teeth — not on whichever treatment sounds most impressive. UK law sensibly limits whitening gel strength to protect patients, which means the real difference in results comes down to careful assessment, well-designed custom trays and proper supervision — not gimmicks. That's why we ask anyone considering whitening to start with a consultation. Most patients arrive thinking they want one specific treatment and leave with the approach that will genuinely give them the best, safest result for their money. Honest advice first — that's the Clarendon way.
Because whitening is led by our whitening expert Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, you get honest advice first. If whitening isn't clinically suitable for you, we'll tell you at your consultation — with a full refund, or we'll recommend an alternative such as Airflow stain removal or a hygiene clean to freshen your smile safely.
We're easy to reach, too: a short hop from Leeds city centre with no need to drive through it, and free on-site parking right outside — so a whitening consultation fits easily around work or a day in town.

Combination whitening pairs an in-practice power session with custom take-home trays, giving you an immediate visible lift plus the gradual deepening and longevity that only home trays provide. It is our most thorough option for the brightest, longest-lasting result and is ideal before a wedding or big event. Combination whitening at Clarendons in Leeds is planned around your timeline after a whitening consultation.
The laser session (around 90 minutes) kickstarts the process with dramatic, immediate results. Home whitening (2–4 weeks of nightly use) then extends the effect, reaches any remaining surface staining, and stabilises the final shade. Together, they deliver a whitening outcome several shades beyond what either treatment alone can achieve — and the results last significantly longer.
Combination whitening isn't just two treatments stuck together — it's a carefully-planned sequence. At Clarendons, we time the laser session, the start of home whitening, and the rest periods between them to get the best possible result without overloading your teeth. The gels are professional strength, the trays fit precisely, and everything is tailored to your teeth, your starting shade and your sensitivity.
Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre gives combination whitening the care it deserves: proper consultations, calming in-chair sessions, thoughtful aftercare, and flexible finance to make it affordable — plus long-term support, because we want your new smile to last as long as possible.

The brightest whitening result we offer. Laser tackles deep and surface staining; home trays refine and extend the effect. Dramatic, lasting transformation.
See visible change on day one (laser session), with your final result over the following 2–4 weeks. Longer-lasting than either treatment on its own.
You keep your home whitening trays forever. Occasional top-up sessions (a few nights every 6–12 months) maintain your brightness indefinitely — and cost a fraction of the initial treatment.

Whitening your teeth for a wedding, big birthday or special event is one of the most popular reasons patients come to see us — but the secret to a great result is planning ahead. We recommend booking a consultation with our whitening expert 2–3 months before your event, so we can assess your teeth and choose the method that will genuinely give you the best result on the day.
The reason we plan early is simple: the right method isn't the same for everyone. For most people, dentist-prescribed home whitening or a combination approach gives the most natural, even and long-lasting result — and whitening a little in advance lets the shade settle and any mild sensitivity pass well before the day. Leave it no later than 2 weeks before your event so there's time for the treatment to work and for us to fine-tune the result.

Booking early means we can choose the best whitening method for your teeth, whiten gradually for a natural, even shade, and comfortably manage any sensitivity long before the big day.
Two weeks is the minimum we'd advise — it allows the whitening to take full effect, the shade to settle, and time for a quick top-up or adjustment if needed. Any closer and there's little room to perfect the result.
For last-minute events we can discuss faster options at your consultation. Note that in-chair laser whitening is used far less often since peroxide gel-strength laws changed, so we'll always recommend the safest, most effective route for your teeth rather than the quickest.

Laser (light-activated) teeth whitening lightens your teeth several shades in a single dentist-supervised appointment, making it ideal before an event. High-strength whitening gel is applied to your teeth and activated with a specialist light that accelerates the reaction, breaking down deep stains far faster than gel alone. Sessions typically last 60–90 minutes and deliver visible results before you leave our Leeds clinic.
Dramatic results in a single visit — no weeks of waiting. Laser whitening delivers 6–8 shades brighter in one appointment, ideal for weddings, events, or when you just want results now. Gums are protected with a liquid dam, enamel is preserved, and every minute of treatment is monitored by your dentist — safer than beauty-salon whitening and faster than DIY.
Laser whitening has a reputation for causing sensitivity, usually because it's been rushed or overdone. At Clarendons, we calibrate every session carefully: gel strength, number of cycles, and break time between cycles, all tailored to your teeth and sensitivity level. The result is dramatic whitening without the next-day agony.
Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre makes your laser whitening session feel almost spa-like — a comfortable chair, calming environment and attentive team. Afterwards, we provide clear aftercare guidance to help your new shade last as long as possible.

Home teeth whitening uses custom-made trays and dentist-prescribed professional-strength gel, letting you safely brighten your smile at your own pace over a couple of weeks at home. It is gentler on sensitive teeth than one-off in-chair sessions and the trays are reusable for easy top-ups. Dentist-led home whitening at Clarendons in Leeds starts with a proper oral health check before you begin.
Home whitening uses custom-fitted plastic trays — made from 3D digital scans of your teeth — to hold professional-strength whitening gel against your enamel. The gel (typically 16% carbamide peroxide or 6% hydrogen peroxide) breaks down stains from within the tooth, delivering a genuinely whiter smile over 2–4 weeks of regular use. Results are visible within days, and the full course reveals a shade change of several levels on a dental whitening chart.
There's a world of difference between dentist-led home whitening and the DIY strips or beauty-salon gimmicks you'll find online. We start with a full oral health check to ensure whitening is safe for you (there's no point whitening teeth with undiagnosed decay). We take digital scans for perfectly-fitting trays. We prescribe gel strength based on your sensitivity and goals. And we're available throughout the process for support and advice.
Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre makes the whole process simple: two short appointments for consultation and tray fitting, then home whitening at your own pace. Your shade is tracked so we can show you the results, and maintenance top-up gels are available for years to come. Just properly-done whitening, without the hype.

Two professional whitening systems dominate UK dentistry — Boutique and Enlighten — and both are genuinely excellent, clinically-proven products that deliver beautiful results. They're built on the same proven whitening science, so what really separates them is value, comfort and how well the experience fits our patients. At Clarendon we use Boutique whitening for the vast majority of our patients, and that's a deliberate choice. The active ingredient in professional whitening is tightly regulated and essentially consistent across reputable systems. We've found Boutique offers all the quality and results our patients want, beautifully presented, at a fairer price — so you get a premium, dentist-supervised result without paying a premium purely for the name. Where a patient has a specific reason to prefer an alternative system, we're happy to discuss it. As always, the system matters far less than the dentist designing your treatment — which is where genuine results come from.

Icon resin infiltration removes white spots and early decay marks from teeth in a single visit at our Leeds clinic, with no drilling and no injections. Icon is a specialist system designed to treat white spot lesions — those chalky, opaque patches caused by demineralisation, often from post-orthodontic demineralisation (after braces), dental fluorosis, or very early-stage decay.
Icon works by first etching the tooth surface with a mild acid to open the pores, drying the area thoroughly, then infiltrating a low-viscosity resin into the porous lesion. The resin sets with a curing light, filling the porous enamel and restoring a natural, even appearance. No drilling, no injection — a truly micro-invasive treatment with no anaesthetic needed and no enamel removed. It's the perfect answer for white spots in patients who'd prefer not to veneer or bond over healthy teeth.
Most Icon treatments are completed in 60–90 minutes, with visible improvement in one visit — sometimes a dramatic transformation, depending on the depth of the lesions. Unlike veneers or crowns, Icon treats the lesion inside the tooth without altering the external structure, so your natural tooth is conserved entirely.
Icon isn't a magic cure-all — it works beautifully on the right kinds of white spots and less so on others. At Clarendons, we assess your specific lesions carefully: their cause, depth and location. For superficial demineralisation after braces, Icon often delivers transformative results; for deeper fluorosis or thick white patches it may not be the right answer — and we'll tell you honestly, rather than selling treatment that won't deliver. Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre is trained in the Icon technique and delivers it with care, in a calming environment with transparent pricing.

Internal bleaching whitens a tooth that has darkened after root canal treatment, restoring it to match your natural smile without a crown. Also called non-vital bleaching, it treats a single tooth that has darkened from the inside — usually after root canal treatment, internal bleeding from trauma, or long-standing stains trapped within the tooth. At Clarendons in Leeds we use it to brighten one tooth back into line with its neighbours.
One technique involves making a small access hole in the back of the tooth (often reopening the root canal access). The canal is sealed, a bleaching agent is placed inside the pulp chamber, and the tooth is sealed with a temporary filling. Over the following days or weeks, the bleach lightens the tooth from within. Once the desired shade is reached, the bleach is removed and a permanent filling placed.
External whitening doesn't reach internal staining — internal bleaching goes directly to the source. It is less invasive than a veneer, so before resorting to a veneer or crown it's wise to consider internal bleaching, which can often restore colour without any significant tooth preparation. Most internally-stained teeth respond brilliantly, often back to a matching shade.
Too many patients with a single dark tooth are straight-up sold a veneer — an irreversible treatment that requires enamel removal. At Clarendons, we always assess whether internal bleaching might solve the problem first: it's cheaper, less invasive, and often gets you a result you're delighted with. Only if bleaching isn't the right solution do we discuss veneers or crowns. Delivered in a calm, spa-like environment in Leeds city centre with clear pricing and flexible payment options.

Lost or worn whitening trays? At Clarendons in Leeds we make replacement custom-fit whitening trays from a quick digital scan — no messy impressions — so you can keep topping up your smile. Ask about our dual-purpose appliances that work as both a retainer and a whitening tray, keeping your teeth straight and bright at once. Free assessment, with only 2–4 days turnaround.

When your whitening gel runs low, book a quick free consultation at our Leeds clinic so we can check it's safe to top up before ordering more. We offer two gel types — a daytime gel and an overnight gel — available in 2 or 4 syringes. If you grind your teeth, we recommend the daytime gel: a whitening tray flexes as you grind, which lets the gel spill out and saliva wash in, diluting the concentration so it won't work properly.
Our whitening is led by Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, whose Master's Degree in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry (University of Manchester, Merit) included in-depth research and a dissertation on teeth whitening — so you get a dentist with genuine expertise in every aspect, from tray design to what actually works, without wasting money on gimmicks.

If you're considering laser or combination teeth whitening, it's worth understanding the rules that govern professional whitening — and why dentist supervision matters. The legal framework governing tooth whitening gels is strictly regulated under Annex III of the EU Cosmetic Regulation (EC No 1223/2009), updated via Council Directive 2011/84/EU, which classifies products by their hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) concentration and sets stringent requirements for professional use. Dr Al-Ani will explain what this means during your consultation and how it may affect your treatment decision.
EU regulations for teeth whitening, set out in Directive 2011/84/EU and the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, strictly control peroxide concentrations to ensure consumer safety. They mandate that products containing or releasing between 0.1% and 6% hydrogen peroxide can only be supplied by dentists, creating a strict, tiered regulatory framework for whitening products.

Any product releasing more than 6% hydrogen peroxide is generally prohibited for cosmetic use.
