Cosmetic dentistry at Clarendon Dental Spa in Leeds is about helping you feel confident in your smile. We’re best known for our veneers and complete smile makeovers, and also offer composite bonding, teeth whitening and facial aesthetics — each tailored to you, for results that look natural rather than “done”.

What really sets us apart is how we advise you. We never push treatment — and if veneers or cosmetic work aren't right for you, we'll tell you honestly. Our rule is simple: if we wouldn't be comfortable doing a treatment on our own family, we won't do it to you.

More complex cosmetic and restorative cases are planned and reviewed by Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, who holds an MSc in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry (University of Manchester, Merit) and is a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry — so your smile is designed with an eye for both natural aesthetics and long-term dental health. Voted Dental Practice of the Year 2026 by real patients.

Porcelain and E-max dental veneers at Clarendon Dental Spa in Leeds

Dental Veneers in Leeds

Porcelain, E-max & composite veneers for a natural smile

  • Veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front of your teeth to refine shape, colour, symmetry and small gaps — a transformative yet tooth-conserving way to achieve a natural, confident smile. We offer the full range and match the type to you, and more complex cases are designed and clinically reviewed by our cosmetic lead. E-max veneers from £795 per tooth, with free whitening when you have ten or more, and a free cosmetic consultation to plan your smile.

  • We match the veneer type to your teeth and goals.

E-max (lithium disilicate) — our premium all-ceramic, with exceptional strength and lifelike translucency.

Porcelain — beautiful, durable and highly stain-resistant.

Composite — a more affordable, tooth-conserving option that can be either hand-sculpted directly onto the tooth in a single visit (see our composite bonding in Leeds page) or made in a lab and bonded on at a second visit for a more refined, longer-lasting finish.

Minimal-prep / no-prep — used wherever possible to preserve natural enamel.

We’ll always recommend the option that genuinely suits you — and if a simpler treatment, or none at all, is the honest answer, we’ll say so.

Great veneers shouldn’t look “perfect” — they should look alive, with subtle shade variation and realistic texture. To understand what separates an excellent veneer from an average one, see the section below.

Every veneer we place is backed by our 12-month structural guarantee — if it isn’t performing as it should within that year, we’ll repair or remake it at no extra cost. This doesn’t cover accidental impact or damage, or cases where we’ve advised at consultation that longevity can’t be guaranteed and you’ve chosen to proceed anyway.

  • How long do veneers last?

With good care, porcelain and E-max veneers typically last well beyond a decade. Composite veneers are more affordable but should be expected to need refreshing sooner, usually around 3–5 years.

  • Healthy foundation first — is a veneer even right for you?

We never push treatment. Before any cosmetic work we first make sure your gums and teeth are healthy — it’s part of the assessment, because veneers or bonding placed on an unhealthy foundation simply won’t last. Sometimes that means a visit to the hygienist or treating gum disease first; occasionally it means a simpler option, or no treatment at all, is the honest answer — and we’ll say so rather than sell you veneers you don’t need.

  • One tooth or the whole smile?

As a cosmetic-focused practice we rarely recommend just “the six front teeth” in isolation — done wrongly it can leave dark corners and make a smile look worse, so we plan for balance across your whole visible smile. For a single veneer there’s an honest trade-off: however well we match the colour, a single veneer next to a natural tooth can look different in some lights, so sometimes veneering the matching tooth gives a more reliably symmetrical result. We’ll guide you through it openly.

Diagnostic wax-up and minimal-prep veneers at Clarendon Dental Spa in Leeds

What makes an excellent veneer

Diagnostic wax-ups, minimal-prep and precise margins — the details that last

  • The difference between a veneer that looks “done” and one that looks alive is in the planning and the fine detail: the diagnostic wax-up, how little tooth we remove, and how precisely the margins fit. More complex veneer cases are planned and clinically reviewed by Dr Ahmed Al-Ani, whose postgraduate training is in restorative and aesthetic dentistry — so each smile is designed for both beauty and the health of the tooth underneath.

  • We also make the whole journey straightforward and reassuring.

Free cosmetic consultation to plan your veneers with no obligation.

One-week standard turnaround from preparation to cementation — and where you need it sooner, we can often work to 1–3 days for an additional cost.

Laser gum contouring where it helps — if uneven or excess gum affects the look of your smile, we can gently reshape the gum line with a dental laser so the veneers sit in balanced, healthy-looking proportions. Whether it is needed is assessed as part of your consultation.

A free review at 1–2 weeks for every patient, where we handle any polishing, refinement, concerns or niggles.

  • See your new smile first: the 3D diagnostic wax-up

Before any permanent treatment, we can create a complete 3D model of how your new smile could look — a hand-crafted diagnostic wax-up. It’s more tangible than an on-screen mock-up: you see and try the proposed shape and proportions in three dimensions, we refine it together, and only then do we begin. You approve the plan; you stay in control.

  • The real skill is in the preparation

With veneers, the artistry everyone sees comes later — the real skill is in the tooth preparation. Removing lots of tooth gives the technician an easy job, but it’s the wrong thing for the patient. The craft is giving the technician exactly the room they need and no more — often working in fractions of a millimetre, and knowing when to remove no tooth structure at all. Our preparations are frequently so minimal that no temporaries are needed, and sometimes no anaesthetic either. Over-preparation — sometimes seen with rushed or overseas “quick” veneers — can damage the nerve and lead to a tooth needing root canal treatment.

  • Refined, excellent-fitting margins

The margin where a veneer meets the tooth matters just as much as the surface you see. Done precisely, the margins are smooth and sealed and the gums stay healthy; done poorly, that’s why you often see red, inflamed gums around veneers. We finish every margin meticulously, and your free 1–2 week review lets us perfect the fit and finish so your gums and smile stay healthy long term.

Smile Makeovers in Leeds

A tailored plan combining cosmetic treatments

  • A smile makeover is a personalised plan that combines the right cosmetic and restorative treatments — whitening, bonding, veneers, alignment, crowns, implants and facial aesthetics — sequenced carefully to transform your whole smile.

Smile makeovers are planned and clinically reviewed by our cosmetic lead, around one honest principle: the best smile makeover is often the fewest treatments that achieve your goal — and sometimes the most beautiful result of all is your own healthy, natural teeth. It starts with a free cosmetic consultation.

  • The difference between a good makeover and a great one is planning and sequencing. A makeover can draw on any treatment your smile needs, all under one roof — orthodontics or Invisalign to position teeth, whitening to set the base shade, and composite bonding or veneers to perfect shape and symmetry.

Where teeth are worn, damaged or missing we rebuild them too, with crowns, bridges and restorations and dental implants — on a foundation of healthy gums, and finished with facial aesthetics where it completes the picture.

Our multidisciplinary team delivers it all in a calm, spa-like Leeds city-centre clinic, with transparent stage-by-stage costing and 0% interest-free finance. Every plan starts with a free consultation, and every patient is reviewed free at 1–2 weeks to perfect the result.

  • How we sequence a makeover

A makeover is sequenced so each stage supports the next. Typically we align the teeth first if needed (braces or Invisalign), then rebuild or replace anything structural with crowns, bridges or restorations and implants, then whiten to set the base shade, and finally perfect shape and symmetry with bonding or veneers. We plan the whole sequence up front so nothing is wasted and the result lasts.

  • Honest, no-pressure planning — our ethos

We only recommend treatment a patient genuinely needs or wants. Every plan starts by making sure the foundation is healthy — healthy gums and teeth first, sometimes with a hygienist visit or gum treatment before any cosmetic work — because work built on an unhealthy mouth won’t last. And the best veneer or restoration is often none at all: your own healthy, natural-looking teeth. Every plan is itemised and costed upfront, with no surprises.

  • From subtle refresh to full transformation

Whether it’s one lingering concern or a complete reinvention, we scale the makeover to match — small changes or large, always sequenced to protect your long-term dental health.

Composite bonding reshaping a chipped front tooth at Clarendon Dental Spa in Leeds

Composite Bonding in Leeds

Reshape chips and gaps in one visit

  • Composite bonding hand-sculpts tooth-coloured resin onto your teeth to repair chips, close gaps and reshape edges — usually in a single visit, with no drilling and completely reversible. It’s one of the fastest, most flexible cosmetic treatments, and it starts with a free cosmetic consultation.

  • For full detail — how we plan the bite so it doesn’t chip, our transparent per-tooth and multi-tooth packages, and the free 1–2 week review — see our dedicated composite bonding in Leeds page.

Anti-wrinkle and dermal filler facial aesthetics by a dentist at Clarendon Dental Spa in Leeds

Facial Aesthetics in Leeds

Anti-wrinkle and dermal filler treatments

  • Our dentists offer facial aesthetics — anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers — using their detailed knowledge of facial anatomy for subtle, natural results that complement your smile.

  • Facial rejuvenation covers non-surgical cosmetic treatments that refresh facial appearance: anti-wrinkle injections (often called Botox, though we use various brands) that temporarily relax the muscles causing expression lines; dermal fillers that restore volume and refine contours using hyaluronic-acid products; and lip enhancements for better balance with your smile. Every treatment is delivered by dental professionals with specialist training in facial anatomy, and begins with a free consultation.

  • Anti-wrinkle injections & dermal fillers

Anti-wrinkle injections temporarily relax the muscles that cause expression lines, softening forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. Dermal fillers restore lost volume and refine contours using hyaluronic-acid products, and can subtly enhance the lips for better balance with your smile.

  • Why a dental team? Facial-anatomy expertise & safety

As dental professionals we have an intimate understanding of facial anatomy — muscles, nerves and proportion — which means safer, more precise treatment. Facial aesthetics is increasingly offered by providers with minimal training; poorly delivered injectables risk asymmetry, vascular complications and tissue damage. Our clinicians are medically qualified and genuinely expert, so your safety and your result are in safe hands.

  • Subtle, natural results that complement your smile

The best facial rejuvenation doesn’t announce itself — our approach is refreshment, not transformation: looking like you, only better rested. Combined with cosmetic dentistry, a refreshed face and a new smile deliver a result neither achieves alone.

FAQs

Your questions about cosmetic dentistry, answered

FAQs about Cosmetic Dentistry

Do I need healthy gums before treatment?

Yes — healthy gums are essential for successful cosmetic work. If needed, we may recommend a hygiene appointment beforehand to ensure the best possible outcome and long-term stability.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

During your consultation, we’ll assess your teeth and discuss your goals in detail. Based on this, we’ll recommend the most suitable treatments and guide you through your options clearly.

Is cosmetic dentistry only about appearance?

While the primary focus is aesthetic improvement, many treatments also support function and overall oral health. Enhancing alignment or restoring damaged teeth, for example, can have both visual and practical benefits.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your teeth and smile. This can include treatments for discolouration, damage, gaps, or alignment, helping you achieve a more balanced and confident look.

Are anti-wrinkle treatments safe?

Yes — when delivered by qualified medical professionals with proper training in facial anatomy. Anti-wrinkle injections have decades of clinical data behind them and an excellent safety profile in experienced hands. Risks are low but include mild temporary effects (bruising, tenderness). Serious complications are very rare in skilled practice. Always choose a qualified, medical practitioner — not a beauty salon.

Dental Veneers

Will my teeth be heavily shaved down for veneers?

Not at Clarendons. We use a minimally invasive approach that preserves as much natural tooth structure as possible. Many veneers require 0.3–0.5mm of enamel reduction — roughly the thickness of the final veneer. In some cases (called ‘no-prep’ veneers), minimal or no preparation is needed. We’ll always minimise drilling and preserve what can be preserved.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years, often longer. Longevity depends on oral hygiene, diet and habits (grinding, biting hard objects). Regular check-ups and hygiene appointments extend their life significantly. When eventual replacement is needed, the process is straightforward. Composite veneers typically last 5–7 years before needing refresh or replacement.

How much do veneers cost in Leeds?

E-max veneers start from £795 per tooth at Clarendon, and we include free whitening when you have ten or more. The exact cost depends on the number of teeth and the veneer type — we give you a clear, itemised quote at your consultation, with 0% interest-free finance available.

E-max or composite veneers — which is right for me?

E-max and porcelain are lab-made, exceptionally strong, stain-resistant and long-lasting — ideal for a full, lasting transformation. Composite is applied in a single visit, is more affordable and reversible, and is often the sensible first step for smaller changes (see our composite bonding page). We'll recommend whichever genuinely suits your teeth, goals and budget.

Do veneers damage your teeth?

Done well, no. The skill is in conservative preparation — we often work in fractions of a millimetre, use minimal- or no-prep techniques where possible, and sometimes remove no tooth structure at all. It's over-preparation, seen with rushed or overseas "quick" veneers, that risks harming the tooth. Precise margins also keep your gums healthy.

What makes an excellent veneer

Can I see my new veneers before we start?

Yes. Before any permanent treatment we can create a 3D diagnostic wax-up — a hand-crafted physical model of your proposed new smile — so you can see and approve the shape and proportions first. You stay in control, and only when you’re happy do we begin.

How much of my tooth is removed for a veneer?

As little as possible. The real skill is in minimal, precise preparation — we often work in fractions of a millimetre, and sometimes remove no tooth structure at all, so no temporaries or anaesthetic are needed. Over-preparation risks the nerve, so conservative preparation protects your tooth long term.

How quickly can my veneers be ready?

Our standard turnaround from preparation to cementation is about one week. Where you need it sooner, we can often work to 1–3 days for an additional cost. Every patient is also reviewed free at 1–2 weeks to polish and perfect the finish.

Can you reshape my gums for a better smile (gum contouring)?

Yes. If your gum line is uneven or sits low over the teeth — sometimes called a gummy smile — we can gently reshape it with a dental laser so your veneers look balanced and well-proportioned. Whether laser gum contouring will help is assessed as part of your free consultation.

Smile Makeovers

Is a smile makeover painful?

Most individual treatments involved are comfortable with local anaesthetic. Sedation is available for nervous patients or for larger appointments. Some mild tenderness is normal after certain procedures (orthodontics, tooth preparation for veneers) but easily managed. We pace treatment sensibly to avoid overwhelming you, and check in throughout to make sure you’re comfortable.

Will my makeover look natural?

Absolutely — that’s our priority. We design every smile around your natural features (face shape, skin tone, lip line, speech patterns) rather than chasing celebrity trends. Subtle variations in shade, translucency and shape mimic real teeth. Many patients tell us friends and family comment they look ‘great’ without being able to identify exactly what changed — the ultimate compliment.

How long does a smile makeover take?

Timelines vary enormously depending on treatments involved. A straightforward whitening-and-bonding refresh can be completed in 4–6 weeks. A comprehensive makeover involving orthodontics, implants, whitening and veneers might take 12–18 months. At your consultation, we’ll provide a clear timeline for your specific plan. We never rush important work; the goal is a result you’ll love long-term.

Am I suitable for a smile makeover?

Most patients are — provided underlying teeth and gums are healthy. We’ll carry out a full assessment at your consultation, addressing any oral health issues first (like gum disease or decay) before cosmetic treatment begins. Age, previous dental work and tooth loss don’t rule you out — we’ve transformed smiles for patients in their 20s through to their 70s.

Will you tell me if I don't need treatment?

Yes — always. We never push treatment a patient doesn't need or want, and we turn people away when cosmetic work isn't right for them. Our rule is simple: if we wouldn't be comfortable doing a treatment on our own family, we won't do it to you. Often the best result is your own healthy, natural teeth.

Composite Bonding

What's the difference between composite bonding and porcelain veneers?

Composite bonding is more affordable, reversible, and completed in one visit—ideal for subtle corrections. Porcelain veneers are more durable and stain-resistant, lasting 15+ years, and are better suited to significant smile transformations.

How long does composite bonding last?

With proper care and regular hygiene appointments, composite bonding typically lasts between 5 and 10 years. We recommend avoiding very hard foods and maintaining a good oral hygiene routine to maximise the longevity of your results.

Is composite bonding painful?

No. Composite bonding is a non-invasive treatment that requires no drilling and no injections. Most patients find the experience entirely pain-free and comfortable.

How long does a composite bonding appointment take?

One of the main benefits of composite bonding in Leeds at Clarendon Dental Spa is that it is usually completed in a single appointment. Depending on the number of teeth being treated, the process typically takes between one and two hours.

How much does composite bonding cost in Leeds?

The cost of composite bonding at Clarendon Dental Spa varies depending on the number of teeth being treated and the complexity of your individual case. We provide a personalised, transparent quote during your consultation, with flexible finance options available to make your treatment affordable.

Facial Rejuvenation

Can I combine facial aesthetics with my dental treatment?

Absolutely — and it’s often the best approach. A new smile paired with subtle facial refreshment delivers a more complete transformation than either alone. Many of our patients combine veneers, whitening or smile makeovers with anti-wrinkle or filler treatments. We’ll plan the timing to get the best overall result.

Will I look overdone or ‘frozen’?

Not at Clarendons. Our approach is deliberately conservative — we’d rather under-treat and top up if needed than overdo it. The frozen, over-filled look comes from aggressive treatment or unskilled injectors. Expert aesthetics deliver subtle refreshment that leaves your features mobile and natural. You should look like a rested version of yourself, not a different person.

How long do results last?

Anti-wrinkle treatments typically last 3–4 months before gradually returning to baseline. Dermal fillers last 6–18 months depending on the product, location and individual metabolism. Most patients book top-up appointments every few months to maintain results. Over time, some patients find they need less frequent top-ups as facial muscles ‘learn’ new relaxed patterns.

White Fillings

Can white fillings stain?

They can pick up some surface staining over time — especially if you drink lots of coffee, tea, red wine, or smoke. Modern composites are more stain-resistant than those of decades past. Regular hygiene appointments include polishing that removes most surface staining and keeps your fillings looking fresh. Deep staining is rare.

Are white fillings mercury-free?

Yes. White fillings are made from a mixture of synthetic resin and tiny ceramic particles. They contain no mercury whatsoever. This is increasingly important to patients concerned about mercury exposure from traditional amalgam fillings.

Do white fillings last as long as metal ones?

Close. Modern composite fillings typically last 7–10 years, versus 10–15+ for metal amalgam. However, composite bonds directly to the tooth (strengthening it), doesn’t corrode, looks natural, and is mercury-free. Most patients and dentists now consider composite the better long-term choice despite the slightly shorter lifespan. Regular check-ups catch any issues early.

Should I replace my old silver fillings with white ones?

From a purely aesthetic perspective, absolutely — tooth-coloured fillings are far more attractive. From a dental perspective, old amalgam fillings that are still sound and sealing well don’t need urgent replacement. However, if they’re old, cracked or starting to leak, replacement makes sense both cosmetically and clinically. We’ll assess your specific fillings and recommend what’s genuinely needed.

What happens if a filling falls out?

Don’t panic. Fillings occasionally come loose, especially older ones. Book an appointment as soon as possible — the exposed tooth is vulnerable to further decay, sensitivity and fracture. In the meantime, avoid chewing on that side and keep the area clean. Temporary filling materials from the pharmacy can cover the tooth for a day or two if there’s a gap before your appointment.
