Full Dentures in Leeds

Natural-looking replacement for a full arch

Full dentures replace all the teeth in an arch with a custom-made, natural-looking appliance designed for comfort, function and appearance.

Full (or complete) dentures replace all the natural teeth in either your upper or lower jaw (or both). They’re made from a combination of high-grade acrylic and artificial teeth (composite or porcelain), custom-crafted to match your gum contours and facial features. Upper dentures cover the roof of your mouth, using suction and muscle grip to stay in place.

Lower dentures are held by the tongue and muscles of the lower jaw (and often stabilised by implants, as the lower arch offers less natural retention). Modern dentures fit precisely and look natural — often indistinguishable from real teeth.

Custom-crafted fit. Made from precise impressions of your gums and jaw. Multiple fittings to perfect comfort and function. Not mass-produced — individually made for you.

Natural-looking teeth. Shade, shape and translucency matched to your facial features. Modern materials mimic real teeth closely. No one will know they’re not the real thing.

Option to upgrade to implant-retained. Traditional full dentures work brilliantly for many patients. For extra stability — particularly for lower dentures that tend to move — we can add 2–4 implants to anchor the denture firmly in place.

A poorly-made denture is a daily misery — rubbing, slipping, clicking, making eating and speaking difficult. A well-made denture is barely noticeable once fitted: comfortable for all-day wear, functional for normal eating, natural in appearance. At Clarendons, we take the time and multiple fittings needed to get full dentures right. Detailed impressions. Careful bite registration. Try-in stages so you see the result before final fabrication. The difference shows in how dentures perform day to day.

Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre makes the denture journey calm and supportive. We know that transitioning to or upgrading full dentures is emotionally significant for most patients — and we take that seriously. Multiple appointments to get things right. Honest conversations about expectations. Flexible payment options. And ongoing aftercare to adjust dentures as your mouth changes over time.

Partial Dentures in Leeds

Fill the gaps from several missing teeth

A partial denture replaces one or several missing teeth and clips around your remaining natural teeth for a secure, comfortable fit.

Partial dentures are removable prosthetics that replace one or more missing teeth while working around your remaining natural teeth. They typically use small clips or precision attachments to anchor to healthy natural teeth, holding the denture firmly in place during eating and speaking.

Common materials include acrylic (most affordable, typically larger and pinker), cobalt chrome metal-framed (thinner, stronger, better long-term); and flexible nylon (tooth-coloured clasps that are nearly invisible but somewhat less precise). Each has advantages depending on your specific situation.

Fills the gaps naturally. Modern partial dentures look natural when smiling. Metal-framed and flexible options minimise visible clasps. Shade and shape matched to your remaining teeth.

Protects your other teeth. Gaps cause remaining teeth to drift and over-erupt, leading to bite problems. Partial dentures prevent this by maintaining position. They also distribute chewing forces more evenly.

Affordable and removable. Significantly less expensive than implants or bridges. Removable for cleaning (keeping both your natural teeth and the denture in good shape). A flexible, accessible option.

Many partial dentures look clunky, feel uncomfortable and trap food against natural teeth — accelerating decay and gum disease in the teeth they’re meant to complement. At Clarendons, our partials are designed thoughtfully: clasps positioned for minimum visibility, framework designed for comfort and hygiene, teeth shaded and shaped to blend naturally. Every partial is a considered piece of dental engineering, not a rush job.

Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre delivers partials properly. Multiple fitting appointments. Trial try-ins so you approve aesthetics before final fabrication. Careful bite adjustment to ensure comfortable chewing without damage to your natural teeth. Detailed guidance on cleaning and care. And regular reviews to ensure long-term fit and oral health for the teeth around your partial.

Flexible Dentures in Leeds

Comfortable, metal-free, virtually invisible

Flexible dentures are made from a soft, thin, biocompatible nylon rather than rigid acrylic or metal. They flex slightly to fit snugly against your gums, making them more comfortable, more discreet and far less likely to cause sore spots than traditional partial dentures.

Because the clasps are gum-coloured rather than metal, flexible dentures are virtually invisible when you smile. They're an excellent choice for replacing one or several teeth where you want a lightweight, natural-looking option without metalwork, and are popular with patients who've found conventional partials uncomfortable or who have metal sensitivities. At Clarendons we take precise digital impressions and work with a specialist lab for a comfortable, natural fit.

Cobalt Chrome Dentures in Leeds

The strongest, slimmest, longest-lasting partial denture

Cobalt chrome dentures use a slim, cast metal framework instead of bulky acrylic, making them dramatically thinner, stronger and more durable than standard acrylic partials. The rigid framework spreads biting forces evenly and is kinder to your remaining natural teeth.

The slimmer base is more comfortable on the palate and conducts temperature, so food and drink feel more natural. Cobalt chrome is the premium choice for partial dentures where longevity and a precise, secure fit matter most — custom-cast to your mouth with tooth-coloured components for a natural look. At your consultation we'll advise whether cobalt chrome, flexible or acrylic best suits you.

Internal Tooth Bleaching / Leeds

Bring a dark tooth back to life

One tooth darker than the rest? Often the culprit is an old root canal treatment, a past injury or internal staining that surface whitening simply can’t reach. Internal bleaching fixes it — from the inside. A small amount of bleaching agent is sealed inside the tooth, working over days or weeks to restore it to match your surrounding teeth. Less invasive than a veneer. More effective than surface whitening. Just targeted, precise colour correction.

FAQs

FAQs about Dentures

How should I care for my dentures?

Dentures should be cleaned daily, along with your gums and any remaining teeth. Maintaining good oral hygiene helps prevent irritation, infection, and further dental issues.

Will my dentures need adjusting over time?

Yes, as your gums naturally change shape, adjustments or relining may be needed to maintain a secure and comfortable fit.

Can dentures be fitted straight away?

Yes — in many cases, immediate dentures can be fitted on the same day as tooth removal. This means you won’t have to go without teeth during the healing period.

What’s the difference between full and partial dentures?

Full dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain, helping to fill gaps and restore function.

Will my partial denture be visible when I smile?

With proper planning, rarely noticeable. Modern partials hide clasps on less visible teeth wherever possible. Flexible nylon partials have tooth-coloured clasps that are virtually invisible. Metal framework partials use thin, strategically-placed clasps. For front-teeth replacement, we take particular care with shade and shape matching. Most people won’t notice unless told.

Full Dentures

What’s the difference between full dentures and implants?

Full dentures are removable prosthetic replacements sitting on top of your gums — affordable, non-invasive, good for most patients. Full arch implants (like All-on-4) replace all teeth with a fixed bridge supported by implants — more expensive, requires surgery, but delivers results much closer to natural teeth (fixed, no slipping, normal eating). Implant-retained dentures are a middle ground: removable dentures anchored to 2–4 implants for extra stability. We’ll talk through all options at your consultation.

Will full dentures look obvious?

Not when properly made. Modern denture teeth come in a wide range of shapes, shades and sizes. Shade is matched to your skin tone and age. Subtle imperfections and slight variations in tooth position make the final result look natural. Most people can’t tell well-made full dentures from real teeth. We’ll show you the wax try-in before final processing, so you can approve the look entirely.

How long do full dentures last?

Well-made dentures typically last 5–10 years, sometimes longer. Over this time, your gums and jawbone naturally shrink (especially in the first year after tooth loss), so relining or replacement may be needed to maintain good fit. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor fit and replace or reline as needed. Implant-retained dentures tend to last longer because implants prevent bone loss.

Will I be able to eat normally with full dentures?

For most foods, yes — with practice. Soft foods from day one. Medium-texture foods within 1–2 weeks as you adapt. Harder foods (apples, steak) within a few weeks for most patients. Very hard or sticky foods (caramels, hard nuts) can remain challenging. Implant-retained lower dentures dramatically improve what you can eat. Most patients return to 80–95% of their previous eating ability.

Partial Dentures

How long will a partial denture last?

Typically 5–10 years with proper care. Factors affecting longevity include material (metal lasts longest, acrylic shortest), how well you care for it, changes in your remaining teeth (fillings, further loss, gum disease), and changes in your jaw shape. Regular check-ups monitor fit and condition, with adjustments, relines or replacements made as needed.

Partial denture vs implant or bridge?

Partials are most affordable and work around existing teeth without modification. Bridges are fixed (can’t be removed), look more natural, but require drilling down neighbouring teeth. Implants are the gold standard — fixed, functional like real teeth, preserve bone — but most expensive and require surgery. At your consultation, we’ll discuss all options and help you choose what’s right for your situation, budget and priorities.

How do I care for a partial denture?

Remove it at least once daily for cleaning — use a soft brush and denture cleaner (not regular toothpaste, which is too abrasive). Rinse after eating to clear food from around clasps. Leave it out overnight to let your gums rest, soaking in water or denture solution. Maintain excellent care of your remaining natural teeth — they’re now more vulnerable to decay around where the denture sits. Regular hygiene appointments are essential.
