The benefits
There are many advantages to Implant supported dentures, these include but are not limited to:
Durability – Implant supported dentures are much more durable than dentures on their own, as implants are anchored to the bone. This means that sometimes implants are even stronger than natural teeth!
Aesthetics – After a lengthy period of time, dentures can sometimes come loose. This may lead to embarrassing social situations, so having implant supported dentures not only eliminates this potential embarrassment, but they also look extremely similar to natural teeth.
Functionality – Often when it comes to conventional dentures, you’ll have to stick with soft foods in order to prevent them falling out. This means that you might have to skip your favourite foods, but with implant supported dentures this doesn’t need to be the case!
Easy to clean – Whilst it’s more durable to have implant dentures, this doesn’t mean it’s more difficult to remove. In fact, one of the best features of implant supported dentures is that they’re easily removable and so can be cleaned efficiently without any trouble.
FAQ’s
How does it work?
The Implants act as anchor points to which the denture is fitted between. The jaw requires between 2-6 implants to hold in place the dentures.
Can Implants break?
Yes, but just like natural teeth, it would require serious force / trauma for them to break and so you needn’t worry about regular occurrences such as biting down on an apple – your implants will act as natural teeth do and will last many years and in some cases - a lifetime!
