The options
There are various treatments that can work for you, such as:
Dental Implants - this treatment is considered the next best option to having your own natural tooth back. You can have a single implant to replace a single tooth or sometimes two teeth. You can also have implant retained dentures and bridges to replace most or all of your teeth! (Learn more)
Dental Bridges - this is exactly what it sounds like! it’s a bridge formed between two neighbouring teeth. This is especially useful as it’s not as difficult to maintain as other treatments - regular brushing and flossing will suffice! (Learn more)
Dentures - this is another great option to replace missing teeth, dentures are removable so they’re not as sturdy as the other options, however, it makes it easier to clean / maintain them. (learn more)
FAQ’s
How do I care for my Dental Implants?
After-care is important if you are going to have long-lasting and successful dental implants. Your cosmetic dentist will provide full after-care advice and assistance following placement of your dental implants.
Cleaning around the teeth attached to the dental implants is no more difficult than cleaning natural teeth. However, there may be areas that are difficult to reach around the dental implant, but you’ll be shown methods to help you.
You may need to visit your hygienist more often but your cosmetic dentist will be able to advise you regarding this.
Will I be able to eat with my dentures straight away?
Eating will take a little practice with your new dentures. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces. Chew slowly using both sides of your mouth at the same time to prevent the denture from moving.
As you become more used to your new denture, add other foods until you return to your normal healthy diet.
Can Implants break?
Yes, but just like natural teeth, it would require serious force / trauma for them to break and so you needn’t worry about regular occurrences such as biting down on an apple – your implants will act as natural teeth do and will last many years and in some cases - a lifetime!
