Other Orthodontic Treatments

Retainers, repairs and everything in between

Orthodontics doesn’t end when your braces come off. Retainers protect your new smile. Sometimes a broken wire, lost retainer or orthodontic emergency needs urgent attention. Children may need early interceptive treatment to guide jaw development. And adults with specific bite issues or past orthodontic relapse may need targeted treatment outside the main systems. At Clarendons, we handle it all.

Whether you need a retainer replaced, a broken bracket repaired, advice on whether your child needs early orthodontic intervention, or help with a specific bite concern, we’re here. In our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre, with expert care, calming surroundings and transparent pricing throughout.

What other orthodontic treatments do we offer?

Everything beyond the main systems

Our “other” orthodontic services cover: custom retainers (new, replacement and maintenance); orthodontic emergencies (broken brackets, poking wires, lost retainers); interceptive orthodontics for children aged 7–10 (early guidance for developing teeth and jaws); functional appliances (jaw-guiding devices for growing children with significant bite issues); and targeted minor tooth movement for adults who’ve had orthodontic relapse or small specific concerns not warranting full treatment. Whatever your orthodontic need, we have a solution.

Features and benefits

Ongoing care for lasting results

  • Retainers, done properly

New, replacement or upgraded retainers — fixed behind the teeth, removable, or both. Custom-made for precise fit and maximum protection of your investment.

  • Rapid orthodontic repairs

Broken bracket, poking wire, snapped retainer — we respond fast. Emergency orthodontic repairs keep your treatment on track and stop minor issues becoming major ones.

  • Early intervention for children

Some children benefit hugely from interceptive orthodontics between 7–10. We assess jaw development, guide tooth eruption and prevent future complex treatment.

The Clarendon's Difference

Full-spectrum orthodontic support

  • Most practices focus on their flagship systems — Invisalign, braces — and handle everything else as an afterthought. At Clarendons, we see the “other” stuff as essential: retainers prevent all our hard work from undoing itself, early intervention saves kids years of future complex treatment, and emergency repairs keep live orthodontic cases on track. It’s comprehensive care, not just comprehensive sales.

  • Our award-winning clinic in Leeds city centre welcomes orthodontic patients from other practices for emergency repairs and retainer replacements. Whether you started treatment elsewhere and need support, or you’re looking for a dentist who handles the full orthodontic picture, you’re in the right place. Prompt appointments, skilled clinicians, honest pricing.

How much do other orthodontic treatments cost?

Varies by treatment. Priced fairly.

Pricing varies widely depending on what you need: a single replacement retainer is affordable; an interceptive orthodontic treatment plan for a child is a larger investment. Emergency repairs are priced per visit based on the issue. At your appointment, we’ll provide a clear quote for anything beyond a simple consultation. Flexible payment options available.

FAQs

Still have questions about other orthodontic treatments?

Do you fix brackets or wires from other dentists?

Yes — we regularly help patients with broken brackets, poking wires or lost retainers from treatment started elsewhere. If it’s a true emergency (acute pain, bleeding), we’ll prioritise you. For less urgent issues, we’ll book you in as soon as possible. If you’d like us to take over ongoing treatment entirely, we can discuss that too.

My teeth have moved since I had braces years ago — what are my options?

Post-treatment relapse is common, especially without consistent retainer wear. For minor drifting, limited orthodontic treatment (a short course of Invisalign or targeted brackets) can often correct things in a few months. For more significant relapse, full orthodontic retreatment may be needed. At your consultation, we’ll assess and recommend the most efficient option.

I’ve lost my retainer — what should I do?

Get in touch as soon as possible. Without a retainer, your teeth will start to drift back towards their original positions. For recent post-braces patients, a replacement retainer within 1–2 weeks usually prevents any significant movement. The longer you go without one, the harder it is to fit your original shape — and you may need retreatment. We can usually get you a replacement retainer within 1–2 weeks.

My child is 8 — do they need braces yet?

Usually not yet. Full orthodontic braces are typically fitted between ages 11–14 when most adult teeth have erupted. However, some children benefit from interceptive orthodontic consultations around age 7–10 to check jaw development, tooth crowding and bite patterns. Early intervention in specific cases can prevent more complex treatment later. We’ll assess and advise honestly.
